IQNA – The Hajj pilgrimage is a spiritual journey that paves the way for a moral revolution in hearts and opens a new chapter in pilgrims’ lives.

Hajj pilgrims in Mecca

The most important philosophy of Hajj is moral transformation. The Ihram ritual helps the pilgrim to come out of materialistic appearances and attachments. With a ban on worldly pleasures and a focus on self-improvement, which are obligations for a Muhrim (a pilgrim who is in the state of Ihram), he is detached from the material world and enters a world of spirituality and serenity.

Then he performs the rituals of Hajj one by one, each of which strengthens his spiritual bond with God, helps him get closer to God, moves him away from his dark and sinful past, and brings him closer to a bright future full of light and serenity.

This moral revolution is deepened by paying attention to the fact that these rituals at every step are reminders of the efforts and sacrifices made by Abraham (AS), the Iconoclast, his son Ismail (AS) and his wife Hagar, and the fact that the land of Mecca in general and the Grand Mosque in particular are reminders of what happened to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Muslims in the early years after the advent of Islam.

In every corner of the Grand Mosque and the land of Mecca, one would see the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Imam Ali (AS) and other great leaders and hears the sound of their epics.

That is why we read in Hadiths that one who performs Hajj completely returns from Hajj as pure and free from sins as on the day on which his mother gave birth to him.

Hajj is a second birth for Muslims and the beginning of a new human life. Of course such a blessing is for those who have gotten to the bottom of the teachings and spirit of Hajj.
